We have already installed 9 wells this year in partnership with ADRA the charitable arm of the Seventh Day Adventist Church operating in Niger.
Each well supplies a small community to irrigate a market garden using the seeds we supply . This has saved many lives this year and we have already started to install more wells and seed provision for next year.
This is one of a number of joint partnership projects such as cataract and cleft operations in Pakistan, Each operation costs around £25 for treating both eyes ( all surgery freely given with no other overheads but supply of eye drops and blood tests) and so restores the ability of those affected to earn a living and earn respect in their community.
We have provided such basic support as these tents on Haiti following the earthquake and in Northern Pakistan following the floods.
We also support a very deprived area of Jamaica and local Walsall projects such as outreach work to those young people caught in drug and alcohol addiction. This joint work by Oak Tree Trust and the Midlands International Aid Trust here in Walsall has also done a lot to promote inter faith understanding. If you would like to keep in touch with the on going work please log onto oaktreetrust.blogspot.com . Maybe you can kindly donate to us and have direct feedback of the actual spend.. We pride ourselves with no overheads… as a registered charity we can also reclaim via gift aid the tax paid.
Thanks and Merry Christmas Ian
