Ian is of to Pakistan in November to do more of the first picture.. promoting good dental health amongst primary school children who are suffering a high rate of decay due to a bad too frequent surgary diet. This time have got Colgate committed to support and the Dean of Punjab University has allocated some final year dental students to join in. Plus the new Governor of Punjab, Mohammed Sarwar has promised me he will visit Gurjrat ( I went to see him specially in House of Commons the other week) on 17th November when I am there and will open our free cleft surgery camp and view our work in building the cleft hospital as a centre of excellence for doing this surgery.
I shall also be arranging 200 free cataract operations on 18th November done by another volunteer eye surgeon.. we just supply the dressings , eye drops and dark glasses.
We shall also supply some blankets to those still suffering from effects of the floods
third picture is our yearly free outdoor food kitchen in centre of Walsall to about 60 homeless and disorganised residents who are specially invited for this meal in the car park of St Pauls church.. done jointly with our Muslim colleagues who join us during their Ramadan fasting time.
We have jointly done a number of fund raising efforts... swimming galas, car washing sessions, gala dinners for the mayor's charity.. the 2 hospices in Walsall for children and adults and for more overseas aid support. So far we have raised about £33K and have a target of £45K during Cllr Mohammed Nazir's year of office.
Successful delivery this year of 2times 40 ft high sided containers to Pakistan hospital and one to a desperately poor Trelawny area of Jamaica ( received by partner charity TORA)
The last picture is of Uttarkhand where we sent relief money with a colleague who with great difficulty directly distributed the help in this remote part of India which has suffered serious floods.
We also managed to join in getting over 250 tons of food into Syria via Turkey and again Aslam went to supervise and check that the distribution was fair and to the right people.
Thanks to all who are supporting Oak Tree Trust.. no money is spent on administration or on any expenses of travel etc.
More details will be posted here but if you have any queries please ring Ian on 01922 634642 or email robertsonic@hotmail.co.uk
Cheers
Ian
