A new year with plans for continuation of the work. More eye camps are planned at the start of March in Pakistan and Kashmir( provision of free cataract operations to give sight back to those who currently have to beg to survive and so allow them to get back to providing for their family ) . I have got a new passport after the old one got stuck in the visa department .
There is also a joint project with another charity ' Children of Adam' to provide and distribute basic food in two Countries Malawi and Zimbabwe... where the economies have collapsed leaving many very poor people. We would be also so pleased to visit the primary school we helped to build in the outskirts of Harare. We continue to support a teacher there as the local people have hardly enough money for food never mind school education. The little boy who suffers from illness when exposed to sunlight continues to receive a supply of special cream that allows him to go outside and play with his friends.
That should happen in March also.. again dependent on others who have the direct contact to set up the details.
Meanwhile the dental work continues in Gurjrat and Kasguma. There has been considerable reorganisation in the 'Smile Train' organisation but the lobbying to the USA controlling group has continued and I hear from Professor Bedi that a plan to ensure proper dental assessments and follow up for all cleft lip and palate patients worldwide is progressing .. a goal that will produce wonderful benefits to the 100,000 patients who receive a cleft lip or palate operation each year.
